On April 28, in the occasion of 100th anniversary of All-China Federation of Trade Unions, a national conference to commend model workers and advanced workers was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Four alumni from LZJTU won the title of National Model Worker. They are Xu Peipei, Duan Wenpan, Huang Tao and Slang Wangza.

Xu Peipei, majored in Civil Engineering and graduated in 2001, is currently the Party branch secretary of the overseas Operation and Development Center of Dalian Branch of China Railway Ninth Bureau. Contributing for the “Belt and Road” construction for 9 years, she has been responsible for more than 10 overseas projects in 3 countries. She has won other awards in national and provincial level including National Labor Medal, National “March 8th Red Banner” Outstanding Woman Pacemaker, National Women's Pioneer, National Most Beautiful Family, National Railway Advanced Female Worker, Liaoning Labor Medal, Liaoning Women's Pioneer, etc.

Duan Wenpan, majored in Civil Engineering and graduated in 2003, is currently the manager and senior engineer of the fifth company of CCCC First Harbor Engineering Company Limited. He has participated in the construction of national key projects such as Harbin-University Railway, Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway, and Hegang-Dalian Expressway. He went to Cambodia and participated in the construction of the local national network highway, built bridges and paved roads in the virgin forest. He also led the team to build highway in deeply impoverished areas such as Linxia Prefecture in Gansu. He was awarded Hebei Labor Medal and won the title of Hebei Model Worker.

Huang Tao, graduated from Lanzhou Railway Machinery School (incorporated into LZJTU in 2005), is a flaw detection worker in the rail flaw detection workshop of Yinchuan Engineering Section of China Railway Lanzhou Bureau Group Co., Ltd. Working in the front line for more than 20 years, he found more than 2600 kinds of damaged rails, formulated 15 operating standards, and completed 23 key technical projects, of which 8 achievements have won national utility model patents.

Slang Wangza, a Tibetan graduated from Lanzhou Railway Machinery School (incorporated into LZJTU in 2005), an instructor driver of Golmud Mechanical Section of China Railway Qinghai-Tibet Group. Since 2007, he has been driving internal combustion locomotives, electric locomotives and Fuxing plateau trains on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, Lasa-Rikaze Railway and Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway. He has won honors like Technical Expert of China Railway, Pioneer Driver of Qinghai-Tibet Railway Group, etc.
