Professor Wu Jianzhong from Cardiff University (UK) Visits Our University to Discuss Scientific Research Cooperation and Education Development

On September 24, Professor Wu Jianzhong, Dean of the School of Engineering at Cardiff University, UK, and Dr. Reza, Vice Dean for International Cooperation, visited our university for an exchange and discussion. Nie Lei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Vice President of the Lanzhou Jiaotong University, attended the symposium and delivered a speech. Representatives from relevant functional departments and schools of the university also participated in the meeting. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on collaborative education, scientific research cooperation, and faculty further education and visits.

Nie Lei extended a warm welcome to Professor Wu Jianzhong and his delegation, providing a brief introduction to the development history, disciplinary strengths, and achievements in international education of Lanzhou Jiaotong University. She emphasized that Cardiff University, as a top-tier research institution in the UK, enjoys an outstanding reputation in fields such as engineering, transportation, and environmental studies, which align closely with the strengths of our university. She expressed hope that this exchange would serve as an opportunity to promote substantive cooperation and achieve mutual benefits.

Professor Wu Jianzhong expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reviewed the close ties between Cardiff University and Lanzhou Jiaotong University over the past decade, highlighting the significant achievements in scientific research collaboration and faculty exchanges. He looked forward to establishing a long-term and stable cooperative relationship between the two institutions. Vice Dean Reza introduced the latest developments of the School of Engineering at Cardiff University in talent cultivation, scientific research innovation, and international cooperation, with a particular focus on successful experiences in joint research, dual-degree programs, and faculty exchanges.

During the symposium, representatives from both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as establishing joint laboratories, collaboratively applying for international research projects, implementing joint student training programs, and facilitating faculty visits and further education. Preliminary intentions for cooperation were reached in multiple areas. This exchange visit laid a solid foundation for future multi-level and broad-scope collaboration between the two universities, marking another significant step forward in the internationalization of our university.
