From October 24th to 28th, 2025, the 2025 China-Japan University Student Exchange Conference, organized by the China Education Association for International Exchange and co-organized by Chuo University, Japan, was held in Tokyo, Japan. Lanzhou Jiaotong University selected 24 students to form a delegation to attend the conference in Japan. The delegation comprised students at various academic levels, including undergraduates, master's, and doctoral students, fully reflecting the university's high regard for this international exchange activity and its philosophy of comprehensive participation.
During the five-day exchange program, centered around the core objectives of "deepening mutual understanding between Chinese and Japanese youth and promoting mutual learning in academia and culture," the university delegation carried out a series of fruitful exchange and inspection activities. On October 25th, the delegation first visited the renowned Japanese institution of higher education, Waseda University. The delegation members systematically and thoroughly toured the university's History Museum. Through the museum's rich collection of documents, precious historical images, and physical exhibits, they gained an in-depth understanding of Waseda University's over-a-century-long history, its distinctive educational features, and its advanced educational philosophies. Following the tour, the delegation engaged in profound discussions with student representatives from Waseda University. The exchange of ideas and perspectives not only enhanced mutual academic understanding but also built a bridge for friendly communication between the youth of China and Japan. Subsequently, the delegation visited the Tokyo National Museum for an inspection tour. The members carefully observed various cultural relics and treasures housed in the museum, ranging from ancient calligraphy and paintings, ceramic artifacts to exhibits related to historical and cultural sites. This allowed for a comprehensive experience of the unique charm and developmental trajectory of Japanese history and culture, further deepening their understanding and cognition.

On October 26th, the university delegation participated in the China-Japan University Student Exchange Meeting held at Chuo University, Japan. This exchange meeting featured five core discussion topics: "Re-examining Our Views on Health," "The Evolving Forms of University Life and Education," "The Forms of Relationships," "Future Society and Our Role," and "The Formation and Expression of Interests." During the exchanges, the members of our university's delegation actively participated in the discussions on various topics. Drawing on their own specialized academic experiences and life insights, they shared viewpoints and expressed opinions on relevant issues. Simultaneously, they attentively listened to the ideas and suggestions of Japanese students, engaging in in-depth discussions and exchanges of opinions on topics of mutual interest. Through equal dialogue and friendly communication, they further deepened their understanding of each other's societies, cultures, educational development, and the needs of youth development.

That evening, the China-Japan Youth Exchange Evening was held as scheduled in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere. Students from both countries showcased their respective cultural characteristics and youthful vitality through diverse cultural performances such as singing, dance, instrumental music, and traditional costume displays, as well as through fun interactive games and cultural knowledge quizzes. In this relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, they further enhanced mutual understanding and friendship, adding a strong humanistic touch to the exchange event.

During the independent investigation segment, aiming to gain a more comprehensive and direct understanding of Japan's socio-economic development status, delegation members conducted field investigations in the Tokyo metropolitan area in groups. The groups visited different types of locations in Tokyo, including important cultural facilities, core commercial districts, technological innovation parks, and residential living areas. Through on-site observation and brief interactions with local residents, they gathered detailed information on Tokyo's urban planning and construction, commercial development models, technological innovation achievements, and the living conditions of its residents. Throughout the investigation process, the members diligently recorded their observations and actively exchanged their insights and reflections. This provided them with a more intuitive and profound understanding of the current situation, characteristics, and experiences of Japan's socio-economic development, while also accumulating valuable practical material for their future studies and research.
This China-Japan Exchange Conference not only provided a valuable international exchange opportunity for the teachers and students of our university but also played a positive role in promoting friendly interactions and cultural exchanges between Chinese and Japanese youth, thereby solidifying the foundation for their friendly communication.
