Delegates from LZJTU attended the 2025 annual meeting of the "China–Five Central Asian Countries Talent Cultivation Alliance in Transportation Infrastructure" in Kazakhstan

From November 26 to 28, the 2025 annual meeting of the "China–Five Central Asian Countries Talent Cultivation Alliance in Transportation Infrastructure" was successfully held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The meeting was jointly guided by the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It was co-organized by Chang’an University and the Kazakh University of Logistics and Transport, with support from China Railway 20th Bureau Group Co., Ltd. and China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd. Northwest Branch. As a standing council member, our university actively responded by sending a delegation comprising Professor Zhang Xiyin, Vice Dean of the School of Civil Engineering; Associate Professor Gao Jianqiang; Professor Mou Haibo and Associate Professor Jia Xiaoyan, from the School of Traffic and Transportation. The delegation participated extensively, engaging deeply in talent cultivation and cooperative exchanges in the transportation sector between China and the five Central Asian countries.

On the morning of November 27, the third council meeting of the Alliance was grandly held at the Kazakh University of Logistics and Transport. A special representative from the Chinese Ministry of Transport attended and delivered a speech. The Alliance Secretariat provided a comprehensive report on the annual progress, and the President of the Kazakh University of Logistics and Transport delivered a welcome address. During the meeting, Professor Fan Wen, Secretary-General of the Alliance and Vice President of Chang’an University, announced and released the Almaty Consensus, which outlined the direction for talent cultivation cooperation in the transportation sector between China and the five Central Asian countries in the next phase. In the session on sharing cooperation achievements, Professor Zhang Xiyin, representing our university, delivered a speech alongside representatives from China CAMC Engineering Co., Ltd., Southwest Jiaotong University, the Shaanxi Provincial Transportation Standardization Technical Committee, Xi’an Highway Research Institute Co., Ltd., Tongji University, and Chengdu University of Technology. He systematically reported the annual cooperation achievements of Lanzhou Jiaotong University under the Alliance framework, covering key areas such as joint scientific research and collaborative talent cultivation, which were widely recognized by all attendees. The meeting also included a ceremony to award plaques to new members and featured a presentation by a representative from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), a newly joined member unit, on their cooperation plans.

In the afternoon of November 27, the "China–Central Asia International Education and Enterprise Cooperation Achievements Exchange Exhibition" was held. Participating institutions showcased their distinctive achievements in collaborative talent cultivation between universities and enterprises. Delegates from our university introduced in detail the university's professional strengths, teaching innovations, and scientific breakthroughs in fields such as rail transportation and civil engineering. The related achievements attracted significant attention from the attendees. Following the exchange exhibition, the delegation visited the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan to attend the "China–Kazakhstan Science, Education, and Transportation Technology Cooperation Matchmaking Meeting." They witnessed the plaque-awarding ceremony for the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan joining the Alliance, creating a new platform for further deepening multilateral cooperation.

On the morning of November 28, the "International Forum on Technical Standards for Transportation Infrastructure Engineering in China and Five Central Asian Countries" commenced. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhamaganbetova Meruert Sovetovna, President of the Kazakh University of Logistics and Transport. Speeches were delivered by Lü Yi, Acting Consul General of China in Almaty; Hua Lei, Special Representative of the Highway Bureau of the Chinese Ministry of Transport; representatives from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan; and Fan Wen, Vice President of Chang’an University. They collectively emphasized the significance of unifying technical standards and strengthening talent collaboration for regional transportation development. During the keynote exchange session, distinguished scholars from 11 universities and research institutions in China and Kazakhstan engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as technological innovation in transportation engineering, optimization of talent cultivation models, and sharing of practical experiences. Professor Zhang Xiyin delivered a thematic speech, highlighting the strengths of our university's talent cultivation system and scientific research achievements in the field of rail transportation. He also reported on the specific measures and achievements of our university in international education and Sino-foreign joint talent cultivation, and conducted in-depth discussions with representatives from China and Kazakhstan on cooperation directions.

Throughout the meeting, the delegation from our university engaged in extensive and in-depth exchanges with experts from the five Central Asian countries, as well as professionals from the transportation and higher education sectors in China. All parties agreed that, in the context of globalization, deepening talent cultivation cooperation in transportation infrastructure is crucial for promoting regional economic integration and enhancing cultural exchanges. Through active participation in all aspects of the meeting, our university not only comprehensively demonstrated its teaching and research strengths in the transportation field but also reached multiple cooperation consensuses with various parties. This significantly enhanced the university's visibility and influence in Central Asia, with its professional expertise, educational philosophy, and cooperative sincerity receiving full recognition from the attendees. This participation has laid a solid foundation for our university to expand its international cooperation space and deepen collaborative talent cultivation with universities and institutions in Central Asia.
