On October 17, 2024, Professor Andrea D’Ariano from Roma Tre in Italy visited Lanzhou Jiaotong University. Deputy Party Secretary and Executive Vice President Nie Lei met with him. Responsible personnel from Center of International Exchanges, Division of Science & Technology, School of Electronic Information and Engineering, School of Automation and Electrical Engineering, School of Traffic and Transportation, and Faculty of Geomatics participated in the discussion session.

Nie Lei welcomed Professor Andrea’s arrival and introduced disciplines construction, talent cultivation, international scientific research cooperation and international education of Lanzhou Jiaotong University. She said that she hoped to promote academic exchanges between two universities through this visit.
Professor Andrea thanked Lanzhou Jiaotong University for the invitation and warm welcome, and introduced Roma Tre. He hoped that both universities would start cooperation from scientific research to strengthen mutual visits and personnel exchanges.


After the meeting, Professor Andrea gave a lecture titled “Train scheduling optimization with consideration of passenger flows during disturbed operations”.

Professor Andrea D’Ariano is a professor of civil engineering, computer science and aerospace technology at Roma Tre. He has served as an expert and report writer for EU Commission and multiple national research funds. He serves as coordinator of AIRO’s “Optimization of Public Transport and Shared Mobility” branch, and deputy editor-in-chief of several internationally renowned journals such as Transportation Research Part B & C.E. He actively participates in organizing important academic conferences such as the International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). His main research direction is designing and developing scheduling and path planning algorithms, with his results widely applied to public transportation and logistics fields.
