From September 24 to 28, 2024, Vice President Yan Haowen led a delegation on an official visit to Uzbekistan. On the afternoon of September 24th local time, Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan Yu Jun met with Vice President Yan Haowen. The ambassador emphasized the deep economic, scientific, and technological, cultural and educational cooperation foundation between China and Uzbekistan, pointing out that as one of Uzbekistan's important trade partners, both countries have made significant achievements in many fields. He particularly mentioned that friendly exchanges between people can be traced back to the period of ancient Silk Road, which laid a solid foundation for in-depth cooperation between the two countries today.

Vice President Yan Haowen introduced in detail the history, discipline construction, talent cultivation, international exchanges and cooperation of Lanzhou Jiaotong University. He expressed his wish to cooperate with more universities from Uzbekistan. The ambassador highly appreciated the efforts and achievements in international exchanges Lanzhou Jiaotong University has made, and said that he would support cooperation between China and Uzbekistan in the field of education, promoting friendship and cooperation between the two countries continuously forward.


The delegation was warmly received by vice governor and director of regional investment and foreign trade department of Khorezm province, head of education department of Khorezm province, and deputy rector for international affairs of Urgench State University. Both sides discussed on issues such as educational cooperation, scientific research innovation, cultural exchange, etc.

Urgench State University signed a cooperation agreement with Lanzhou Jiaotong University. The Vice Governor of Uzbekistan's Khorezm Province and the Director General of Education Department attended the signing ceremony. The agreement marked an important step forward in the cooperation between the two universities, providing more opportunities for exchanges and collaboration to both teachers and students, and jointly promoting the development of higher education.
The visit was also joined by directors of division of the Science and Technology and Center of International Exchanges.
