Delegation led by Carmen Vargas from University of Seville, Spain visits Lanzhou Jiaotong University

On June 4, 2024, delegation led by Carmen Valgas from University of Seville, Spain visited Lanzhou Jiaotong University. Secretary of the Party Committee of Lanzhou Jiaotong University Di Shengkui met with the delegation. The meeting was chaired by Vice President Yan Haowen. Vice President Cheng Guangwu also attended the meeting.

Di Shengkui led a delegation to visit University of Seville and jointly unveiled the Confucius Institute with President Miguel in April. They also signed cooperation memorandums and student exchange agreements between the two universities, which marked a new stage in exchanges and cooperation.

At the meeting, Yan Haowen warmly welcomed the delegation from University of Seville to visit Lanzhou Jiaotong University. He said that this visit would not only deepen friendship between both sides but also provide new vitality for further cooperation.

Carmen said in her speech that both universities were united for a common goal, and would provide students and teachers with wide-ranging communication opportunities to promote academic and professional development. She hoped that both sides could explore deeper exchanges by successfully building Confucius Institute, signing cooperation memorandums and student exchange agreements. She proposed that both parties should accelerate the pace of student exchanges through summer camps, short-term exchanges, and joint training programs.

Di Shengkui said in his concluding remarks that the cooperation between the two universities has achieved many representative results. Both parties should seize this opportunity to jointly promote the construction of Confucius Institutes and advance practical cooperation, exchanges, and mutual learning among the two universities in various fields such as culture, education and research. He put forward three cooperation proposals: firstly, establish a regular mechanism for communication; secondly, hold online and offline exchange activities between leaders at all levels and experts in various fields; thirdly, jointly apply for national scientific research cooperation projects. In addition, Di Shengkui sincerely extended invitation to President Miguel to visit Lanzhou Jiaotong University.

Vice President Carmen also visited Tianyou Garden, Tianyou Art Museum, University History Hall and Innovation & Entrepreneurship Base. Di Shengkui and Chen Guangwu accompanied the delegation.

Representatives from Party (University) Office, Teaching Affairs Division, Graduate School, Science and Technology Division, International Exchange Center, School of Civil Engineering, School of Electronic Information and Engineering, School of Automation & Electrical Engineering College, School of Art and Design, School of Foreign Languages, College of Literature attended the event.
