President of University of Selangor, Malaysia visits Lanzhou Jiaotong University

On May 21, 2024, delegation led by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Redzuan bin Othman, President of University of Selangor (UNISEL), Malaysia visited Lanzhou Jiaotong University. Secretary of the Party Committee of Lanzhou Jiaotong University Di Shengkui and Vice President Yan Haowen attended the meeting.

Di Shengkui warmly welcomed the delegation to visit our university. He introduced Lanzhou Jiaotong University in terms of history and development, discipline construction, talent cultivation, international exchange and cooperation. He hoped that the visit could enhance the cooperation between two universities, and contribute to the implementation of “Belt and Road Initiative”. Yan Haowen put forward three proposals for promoting the cooperation: firstly, carry out cooperation in discipline construction, teacher training and talent cultivation; secondly, implement student semester exchange programs; thirdly, organize cultural activities including summer camps, attracting UNISEL students to study in Lanzhou Jiaotong University by multiple means. At the meeting, representatives from School of Electronic Information and Engineering, School of Biological Pharmaceutical Engineering, School of Economics Management and School of Art and Design introduced their characteristics and achievements over recent years.

Dato' Mohd Razwan Osman expressed his gratitude for the hospitality of Lanzhou Jiaotong University, and agreed with cooperation proposals from Lanzhou Jiaotong University. He said that this visit was aimed at understanding in depth the advantages of disciplines and majors of Lanzhou Jiaotong University to lay a foundation for future cooperation. He hoped that through joint efforts from both sides, exchanges and cooperation could be promoted in education, scientific research and culture activities between two universities, contributing to enhance humanistic exchange between China and Malaysia.

After the meeting, the delegation visited Tianyou Railway Theme Exhibition Hall and School of International Education.

The University of Selangor (UNISEL), a renowned higher educational institution in Malaysia, was formerly known as the Selangor Institute of Technology and established in 1999. As the first state university, it holds a unique position in Malaysia's higher education sector.
