On April 23, 2024, Delegation from Quang Nam Province of Vietnam led by Vice Secretary and Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Department Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang visited Lanzhou Jiaotong University. Vice president Chen Guangwu met with the delegation. Responsible personnel from School of Traffic and Transportation, School of Automation & Electrical Engineering and Center of International Exchanges attended the meeting.

Vice president Chen Guangwu warmly welcomed the delegation and introduced in detail about the history, discipline construction, talent cultivation, international exchange and cooperation of Lanzhou Jiaotong University. He hoped that this visit could be an opportunity to cooperate with higher educational institutions in Quang Nam Province, contributing to the implementation of “Belt and Road Initiative”. Chen Guangwu put forward three cooperation proposals: firstly, carry out cooperation in discipline construction, teacher training and talent cultivation; secondly, implement student semester exchange programs; thirdly, organize cultural activities including summer camps, attracting Vietnamese students to study in Lanzhou Jiaotong University by multiple means.

Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang agreed with proposals made by Vice president Chen Guangwu. She said that this visit aims to deeply understand the strengths and specialties of Lanzhou Jiaotong University in order to lay a foundation for future cooperation between Gansu Province and Quang Nam province in higher education. She hoped that through joint efforts from both sides, exchanges and cooperation could be promoted among universities in China and Vietnam in fields such as education, science and technology, culture, contributing to enhancing cultural exchange between China and Vietnam.

After the meeting, the delegation visited Tianyou Railway Theme Exhibition Hall, Experimental Center of School of Traffic and Transportation and School of International Education. They also held a discussion with Vietnamese students at the International Education Institute. Tran Thi Thuong Trang highly praised the achievements of Vietnamese students in Lanzhou Jiaotong University, hoping that more Vietnamese students could be admitted to deepen friendship through all-round exchanges.

At present, there are 18 Vietnamese students studying at Lanzhou Jiaotong University, including seven Chinese Government Scholarship holders, nine Silk Road Scholarship holders and two self-supported Chinese language students.
