From November 5 to 7, 2024, the eighth President Forum of Sino-Russian Jiaotong University Alliance was held in Beijing Jiaotong University. This forum is co-hosted by Sino-Russian Jiaotong University Alliance and Beijing Jiaotong University aiming to further deepen higher education and scientific research cooperation in transportation field between China and Russia. Government Officials from both countries, representatives from member universities of the Alliance as well as related enterprises attended this forum. Executive Vice President Nie Lei led a delegation to attend the forum, presided over sub-forums and delivered keynote speeches.


At the sub-forum, Nie Lei delivered a keynote speech titled "Continuing Friendship between China and Russia, and Promoting Development of Transportation", introducing the historical evolution, discipline construction, talent cultivation, international cooperation as well as significant scientific achievements in fields of transportation of Lanzhou Jiaotong University. She said that Lanzhou Jiaotong University is focusing on building an interdisciplinary system for disciplines, talents training and research to respond to national strategies.
Lanzhou Jiaotong University has made great contributions to technological progress and industrial transition in related areas through innovative development of industries such as new energy sources, new materials and traditional industry upgrade and transformation.
Nie Lei said that Lanzhou Jiaotong University will continue to deepen cooperation with Russian transportation institutions in academic research, transformation of scientific and technological achievements and talent cultivation. She hoped to build a resource sharing platform together with Russian universities, share high-quality digital educational resources, establish an open, inclusive, and resilient international exchange mechanism to promote sustainable development of China-Russia higher education for transportations.

During this forum, Nie Lei had in-depth exchanges with presidents of Russian State University for Transport, Novosibirsk State University of Transportation, Ural State University of Railway Transport and Far Eastern Federal University. They reached a wide consensus on further deepening cooperation between both sides in academic research fields. The discussion covered multiple areas including joint implementation of scientific projects, strengthening teacher-student exchange, and promoting broader academic exchanges and cooperation.


Representatives of International Exchange Center, Graduate School and Science Technology division also attended the forum.
