The opening ceremony of the 56th LZJTU sports meeting was held in the morning of May 14. University leaders, representatives of teachers and students, athletes and referees attended the opening ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Chen Guangwu, vice president and director of the University Sports Committee.

At 8:00 a.m., 40 teams marched into the sports field with full enthusiasm. Different sport teams distinguish themselves with different slogans, uniforms and dazzling displays, mostly adhering to their own features.

Executive Vice President Nie Lei made an opening remark. On behalf of LZJTU, she expressed her heartfelt thanks to all the athletes, coaches, referees. She reviewed the fruitful achievements of sports work, emphasizing that sport is an important link in the implementation of the fundamental task of “building morals and educating people”, and it is important for cultivating young people's strong physique, healthy psychology, and perseverance. She hoped that all the teachers and students will enjoy the fun in sports, strengthen their physical fitness, improve their personality, and transform the sportsmanship of higher, faster, stronger into a powerful impetus to promote the construction of high-level LZJTU. At last, she wished the sports meeting a complete success.

Guo Xiaolei, the representative of referees, and Pan Jianglong, the representative of athletes, made a solemn oath, promising to abide by sports ethics, abide by the rules of competition, and adhere to the spirit of fair play in the sports meeting.

At the opening ceremony, there was also a display of college students sports teaching achievements including lion dance, swordcraft, Tai Chi, and Kung Fu Fan. Students performed in enthusiasm, demonstrating the vitality of youth and teaching achievements to the fullest.

The opening ceremony concluded successfully in applause and cheers. The sprots meeting will last for three days, from Mat 14 to May 16, during which all the athletes will compete in the sportsmanship of higher, faster, and stronger.
