On the morning of May 29, Party Secretary of Lanzhou Jiaotong University Di Shengkui met with the delegation of faculty members from Urgench State University of Uzbekistan, and the two sides carried out in-depth exchanges on deepening cooperation. On behalf of Lanzhou Jiaotong University, Di Shengkui firstly expressed his sincere welcome to the delegation. He comprehensively reviewed the history of cooperation between the two universities and highly praised the fruitful achievements in the fields of mutual visits of teachers and students, scientific research cooperation and talent cultivation. Di Shengkui pointed out that the cooperation between the two universities has not only realized complementary advantages and synergistic development, but also become a model of higher education exchange between China and Uzbekistan. Looking to the future, he said that Lanzhou Jiaotong University will uphold the concept of openness and the spirit of win-win cooperation, and work together with Urgench State University to expand the depth and breadth of cooperation, and jointly grasp the new opportunities of education cooperation under the “Belt and Road” initiative, to make greater contributions to the promotion of humanistic exchanges and the development of higher education between the two countries.

Prof. Khojaev, the head of delegation of Urgench State University, expressed his heartfelt thanks to Di Shengkui for his warm reception and spoke highly of the results of cooperation between the two universities. He pointed out that the partnership between Urgench State University and Lanzhou Jiaotong University is a vivid example of friendly exchanges between universities of the two countries, which lays a solid foundation for the synergistic development of the two sides in the field of education and scientific research. Prof. Khojaev said that his university will continue to deepen the collaboration with Lanzhou Jiaotong University and jointly promote the steady development of the two universities in the fields of discipline co-construction and joint cultivation of high-quality talents with global competence.

The two sides reached cooperation consensus on various fields, including integrating the quality educational resources of the two universities and providing students with a high-quality international education platform, exploring the “dual-degree” joint training mode, and carrying out joint scientific research, and promoting the transformation and application of the results.

At the invitation of Lanzhou Jiaotong University, the delegation from the Faculty of Engineering of Urgench State University paid a two-week academic visit to Lanzhou Jiaotong University since May 19th. During the visit, the delegation visited 11 schools, including School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Traffic and Transportation, School of Electrical and Information Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, and School of International Education, etc., and carried out in-depth exchanges with the heads of the colleges and departments on the topics of high-level talent cultivation and cross-border scientific research cooperation. The delegation also visited the CNC machining center, rail train operation and control laboratory and other scientific research platforms to get a comprehensive understanding of the university's scientific research strength.

This visit is an important initiative of Lanzhou Jiaotong University to deepen cooperation with Central Asian universities. Through systematic subject docking and scientific research assessment, the two sides have clarified the direction of future cooperation, and will work together to build an open and inclusive higher education cooperation ecology to serve regional development and global humanistic exchanges. The visit not only consolidated existing cooperation, but also laid a solid foundation for both sides to carry out substantive collaboration at a higher level and in a wider field.
