From June 6th to 8th, the World Symposium on Electrical Systems (WSES) 2025 was held in Lanzhou. The Symposium is sponsored by Lanzhou Jiaotong University, IEEE, PES and hosted by the School of Automation and Electrical Engineering at Lanzhou Jiaotong University, IEEE PES Lanzhou Chapter, with patronage from Tianjin University, the Institute of Electrical Engineering at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, North China Electric Power University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Beijing Jiaotong University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Sichuan University, China Electric Power Research Institute Co.,Ltd, and others.

The symposium adopted the form of online and offline interaction, and set up the offline venue in Lanzhou Baiyun Hotel. Nearly one hundred representatives from universities, research institutions and enterprise gathered to carry out in-depth exchanges around the innovation and development trend of the electrical system field.
The symposium presented the Outstanding Reviewer Award, Outstanding Organization Award and Outstanding Contribution Award respectively, and on-site awards were given.

In the afternoon of June 7, nearly 40 young scholars made reports and poster presentation. The participants discussed around topics including “Key Technologies for Total Element Planning in the Critical Period of New Power System Transition”, “Promoting Networked Microgrids to Realize Resilient and Sustainable Energy Systems”, “Application of Energy Storage Technologies in Novel Power Systems”, “Emerging Advanced Artificial Intelligence Assistive Technologies for Smart Grids”, "Renewable Energy-based Interaction between Renewable Energy-based Railway Traction Power Supply and New Power Systems“, etc..

Participating experts also visited the School of Automation and Electrical Engineering of Lanzhou Jiaotong University, and conducted academic exchanges with teachers and staff.
The successful holding of the World Symposium on Electrical Systems 2025 has set up a high-level communication platform covering academic research, technology research and development, and industrial application, and has strongly promoted the innovative integration of industry, academia, research and application in the field of global electrical systems. In the future, WSES will continue to play the role of “academic bridge” and “innovation engine”, focusing on the goal of sustainable development of global energy, gathering international wisdom, deepening synergistic innovation, and promoting the electrical system to be upgraded in the direction of high efficiency, low carbonization, and intelligence.
