On March 19, 2024, delegation from Urgench State University, Uzbekistan visited Lanzhou Jiaotong University. Vice President Chen Guangwu met with the delegation and exchanged views on teaching and scientific research cooperation.

Both sides introduced the history and development, disciplines, and international cooperation of their universities. Vice President Chen Guangwu emphasized that Lanzhou Jiaotong University has made significant achievements in fields such as transportation, civil engineering, machinery, and automation, and hope to deepen cooperation with Urgench State University. The delegation leader of Urgench State University, Ruzimov Jumanazar, hoped for more collaboration between the two parties in various areas. The following discussion covered details regarding student exchanges, joint laboratory construction, academic conferences, etc.. Both universities agreed to strengthen communication and cooperation among teachers and students, promote research cooperation in fields such as microbiology, e-commerce and logistics management, vehicle engineering, hold academic conferences, and jointly cultivate excellent talents with international vision.

After the meeting, the delegation visited teaching facilities and student activity areas. The delegation had friendly exchanges with Uzbekistan students studying in Lanzhou Jiaotong University, learned about their study and life, encouraged them to continue studying hard for the friendship and cooperation between China and Uzbekistan.

The delegation also explored the possibility with director of the International Exchange Center on establishing Confucius Institutes in Uzbekistan. Both sides believed that the establishment of a Confucius Institute would help promote cultural exchanges and educational cooperation between China and Uzbekistan, as well as mutual understanding and friendship among their peoples. The delegation expressed full support for the preparatory work of the Confucius Institute.

The visit not only deepened friendship and cooperation between Lanzhou Jiaotong University and Urgench State University, but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation.
