From April 14th to 15th, Di Shengkui, Secretary of the Party Committee of Lanzhou Jiaotong University led a delegation to visit Kyrgyzstan to promote international cooperation and exchanges.

On the afternoon of April 14, the delegation visited the Kyrgyz National University. Di Shengkui introduced the history, disciplines and specialties, the construction of teaching staff, the mode of talent cultivation and the practice of international strategy of LZJTU. On this basis, the two sides signed a cooperation agreement, agreeing to further enhance cooperation in talents training, scientific research, social service, cultural innovation, and international exchanges.

Di Shengkui pointed out that Lanzhou Jiaotong University will continue to promote exchanges and cooperation with Kyrgyzstan National University, contributing to friendship and cultural exchange between China and Kyrgyzstan.

On the morning of April 15, the delegation visited Kyrgyz Branch of China Railway International Co., Ltd. and China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Co., Ltd. During the visit, the operation of the Kyrgyz branch of China Railway International Co., Ltd., as well as the latest progress of China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project were introduced to the delegation. Di Shengkui emphasized that the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway, as an important landmark project of the "Belt and Road" initiative, is significant for economic cooperation and cultural exchanges between China and Kyrgyzstan and the entire Central Asian region beyond.

At the symposium held with the relevant persons in charge of the Kyrgyz Branch of China Railway International Co., Ltd. and China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Co., Ltd., Di Shengkui elaborated on the scientific research achievements and technical strength of LZJTU in the field of rail transit, and expressed LZJTU’s willingness to provide comprehensive technical support and to cooperate in railway design, construction, and operation. The two sides had in-depth discussion and reached a preliminary understanding on future cooperation.

Di Shengkui said that, as the third railway undergraduate university, the establishment and development of LZJTU are closely related to the layout of national railway construction and national strategy of strengthening the country by transportation. Lanzhou Jiaotong University will always uphold the concept of open cooperation, deeply integrate into the overall situation of the "Belt and Road" construction, give full play to the profound professional advantages accumulated in the field of rail transit, and actively participate in the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project.

During his visit, Di Shengkui also met with alumni of LZJTU in Kyrgyzstan.

The visit not only consolidated friendship and cooperation between Lanzhou Jiaotong University and relevant universities and enterprises in Kyrgyzstan, but also laid a solid foundation to further enhance its international cooperation and exchanges

Representatives from the Science and Technology Division, Center of International Exchange, and School of Automation and Electrical Engineering also joined this visit.
