To implement the talent empowerment project, and accelerate the construction of high-quality talent team, on March 30, LZJTU held the 2025 Talents Work Conference. Focusing on talents “attracting, cultivating, using and serving”  system construction and talent project application experiences exchange, LZJTU invited distinguished experts from other high-level universities to discuss the development of talent team construction.  Secretary of the Party Committee of Lanzhou Jiaotong University Di Shengkui attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Executive Vice President Nie Lei presided over the national high-level talent “attracting, cultivating, using and serving” symposium in the morning, and Vice President Huo Haifeng presided over the national high-level talent application experience exchange meeting in the afternoon.

Di Shengkui emphasized that talent work is a systematic project that requires the concerted efforts of the whole university. All colleges should consolidate the main responsibility, and the Deans and Party secretaries of colleges should be the "first responsible person", enhancing the talent work with discipline construction, teaching and scientific research. Functional departments and divisions should enhance their sense of service, and “attracting, cultivating, using and serving” talents. First, we should attract talents from a global perspective and aim at the frontiers of key disciplines and national needs. Second, we must plant fertile soil to cultivate talents, formulate differentiated growth plans for different types of talents, improve the training system, and activate the growth momentum of talents. Third, we must build an interdisciplinary platform to use talents, and release the vitality of talent innovation. Fourth, we must serve talents and create a atmosphere that respects talents, and take multiple measures to enhance their sense of belonging.

Nie Lei reviewed the history and characteristics of LZJTU. Drawn from the experiences and insights shared by three experts, she emphasized that all colleges and divisions should take talents as "the first and foremost resource", sort out the results of the meeting, and work together to further promote the connotative development of LZJTU.

The head of Human Resources division reported on the work has been done in “attracting, cultivating, using and serving” talents. Three experts from Southwest Jiaotong University, Beijing Jiaotong University, and Lanzhou University shared their experiences on topics such as talent introduction, scientific research innovation, and platform construction, providing new insights for LZJTU talent work construction. Participants of the conference conducted in-depth exchanges around building a favorable ecology of talents, teams, and scientific platforms.

At the national high-level talent application experience exchange meeting held in the afternoon, Di Shengkui emphasized that the national high-level talent project is not only a milestone in the personal academic career of talents, but also a key starting point for the university to enhance its core competitiveness and serve the national strategic needs. He encouraged young talents attending the meeting to make efforts in team building, academic influence and seek new breakthroughs. In the experience exchange session, three experts from Southeast University, Chang'an University and Jilin University as well as our new young talents, drawn from their own experiences, interpreted in detail the key points of national talent project application in terms of policy interpretation, material refinement, team collaboration, etc.

The holding of Conference has anchored the key direction and injected strong momentum for talent work of LZJTU. The university will take first-class discipline breakthrough projects as a guide to continuously deepen “attracting, cultivating, using and serving”  system  for high-level talents, improve full-chain, full-cycle and all-round services, and provide powerful intellectual support for the high-quality development of Lanzhou Jiaotong University.
