In order to thoroughly implement the cooperation agreement signed with Lanzhou Jiaotong University and promote inter-university exchanges and cooperation to a deeper level and broader fields, Wuwei Vocational and Technical University hosted a three-day, content-rich cultural exploration tour for international students from the International Education College of Lanzhou Jiaotong University from November 14 to 16. As the host and organizer, the university demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility and full enthusiasm, meticulously planning and organizing the event to ensure its complete success, vividly interpreting the profound essence of win-win cooperation through concrete actions.

Meticulous Planning: A Cultural Feast Blending Ancient and Modern

To showcase Wuwei's profound historical heritage and vibrant modern vitality, the university carefully designed a study tour route integrating "traditional culture, modern technology, and ecological management." On November 14, the activity commenced with a warm welcome as the bus carrying the international friends arrived on campus. While visiting the university's advanced on-campus training bases, the international students marveled at the hardware facilities and teaching achievements in cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents, frequently stopping to interact with teachers and students.

The subsequent intangible cultural heritage experience session brought the atmosphere to its first climax. Under the guidance of professional instructors, the students danced to the rhythm of the Huarui Guozhuang, moving to the joyful beats symbolizing ethnic unity, and pounded the powerful drums of Liangzhou Gongguzi, feeling the grandeur of ancient battlefields. The venue was filled with laughter and joy, and faces of different skin colors beamed with bright smiles through the shared cultural experience, fully demonstrating the university's dedication and effectiveness in inheriting and promoting outstanding local traditional culture.

That evening, Lü Longmei, Director of the Wuwei Cultural Center and a part-time teacher at the university, was invited to deliver an exquisite bilingual lecture titled "The Past and Present of Liangzhou Culture" for the students who had traveled from afar. The Director, with her profound knowledge and engaging delivery, gradually unfolded a magnificent historical scroll of Liangzhou, captivating the audience. The Q&A and interaction session was particularly lively. This lecture was an important manifestation of the university's efforts to integrate high-quality local cultural resources and enhance the depth of the study tour.

In-Depth Experience: Showcasing Wuwei's Technological Pulse and Desert Control Spirit

On November 15, the university organized the study tour group to venture beyond the campus and delve into Wuwei's urban landmarks and spiritual symbols. At the Gansu Wuwei Heavy Ion Center, the world-leading cancer treatment technology deeply impressed the international students, who were amazed by China's outstanding achievements in cutting-edge medical fields. Transitioning from the heights of modern technology to the depths of Han Dynasty history, their visit to the Leitai Han Tomb gave them a tangible sense of the historical weight of the hometown of the "Galloping Horse Treading on a Flying Swallow."

The afternoon schedule focused on ecology and sustainable development. At the Babusha Desert Control Memorial Hall, the touching stories and great achievements of the three generations of the "Six Old Men" in desert control allowed the international students to deeply understand the Chinese concept that "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets." Immediately afterwards, at the university's 20-megawatt photovoltaic power plant—a productive training base—expansive arrays of solar panels glistened in the sunlight, demonstrating the charm of green energy and highlighting the city's development strength in the new energy sector.

To allow the international students to fully perceive the breadth and depth of Chinese civilization, the university's affiliated hospital arranged for Cao Shengyou, a renowned Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner of Gansu Province, to host a lecture on TCM intangible cultural heritage that evening. The renowned doctor's clear explanations and fascinating live interactions made traditional techniques like "pulse feeling" intuitive and tangible, sparking great interest and rounds of applause from the students, becoming a highlight of this cultural exchange.

Successful Conclusion: Seeds of Cultural Exchange Sown

On November 16, the university arranged for the study tour group to visit the Wuwei Museum and the Wuliang Culture Museum. The rich collections and systematic exhibitions, like two three-dimensional history books, provided a perfect summary for this study tour. In the afternoon, amidst a reluctant atmosphere of farewell, the study tour group embarked on their return journey.

The complete success of this study tour activity not only received high praise from the teachers and students of Lanzhou Jiaotong University but also fully demonstrated our university's excellent organizational and coordination capabilities, profound cultural heritage, and open, inclusive international approach to education. We firmly believe that this activity has sown seeds of understanding China, loving Gansu, and cherishing a connection to Wuwei in the heart of every international student. In the future, Wuwei Vocational and Technical University will continue to uphold the concept of openness and integration, building more and broader platforms for international exchange, and contributing the strength of WVTU to telling China's stories well and spreading the voice of Gansu.
