Lanzhou Jiaotong University’s School of International Education recently hosted a cultural event titled “Stay at LJU, Experience the Flavor of the Chinese New Year,” inviting four folk artists from the Anning District Arts and Crafts Association to introduce international students to traditional Chinese intangible cultural heritage.

The event featured live demonstrations and interactive sessions on paper-cutting, calligraphy, New Year woodblock printing, and sugar painting. Under the guidance of the artists, students tried their hand at these traditional crafts and learned about the customs associated with the Spring Festival, such as pasting window decorations, writing couplets, and displaying door gods.

Designed to enrich campus life during the winter break and convey the university’s care for students staying on campus, the activity also served as a cultural bridge. It offered international students a vivid and immersive experience of Chinese traditions, helping deepen their understanding and appreciation of China’s cultural heritage.
